Hiroshi Sugimoto

Hiroshi Sugimoto

Japan, 1948.

Biography:

In his images are interwoven issues related to Art, History, Science or Religion. He works mostly in black and white, with large format cameras and taking as reference the Renaissance Painting and Photography from the pioneers of the Century. In the late Seventies was concentrated on a few topics that series conceived as open, which may be completed over several decades of research and the various stages of their journeys. The result of this process are a series of dioramas of wax, which began in 1976, his series of drive-in theaters and on the perceived degree of influence of Dan Flavin and Carl Andre.
